Congratulations to the Monelison Math Olympiad Team. This year 34 students at MMS competed against 4000 teams worldwide and scored in the top 10 %, earning a plaque for highest team achievement.

 

7^th grader, Sara Pettyjohn, earned the highest score (a perfect 25) for the year and received the George Lenchner Individual Achievement Medal. Sara, along with fellow classmate, Lee Hamilton, and 8^th grader, Meg Ritchie, all scored in the top 2% of the 102,000 students who participated in Math Olympiad this year.

Our 8th Graders are going to the high school!

In their regular meeting on April 26, 2012, the Amherst County School Board members   changed the half-day school day/ half- day teacher planning day previously scheduled   for June 1 to a teacher at-home planning day. This decision was made when the Board was informed that due to a mild winter we did not have to utilize inclement weather days and we will have exceeded the minimum requirement for instructional hours for the 2011 – 2012 school year. Therefore, the last day of school for Amherst County Public Schools is May 31, 2012.
